More Faces Around the Campfire

A kobold, a horned minotaur, and a feather-winged harpy meet on a misty fantasy road at dawn.

Small scaly schemer? Towering horned adventurer? Someone with rather more hands than usual? The July 27–September 28 character work has widened the possibilities.

August added Wemic, Half-Illithid, and Yuan-Ti equivalents. Their unusual bodies matter: equipment restrictions are part of the design, including a Yuan-Ti tail slot.

September’s Duris-inspired addition brings twelve more character-creation races into the code: Centaur, Githzerai, Firbolg, Githyanki, Kobold, Drider, Thri-Kreen, Minotaur, Kuo Toa, Orog, Harpy, and Stormkin.

Different in more than name

The work includes racial abilities, casting-speed traits, and proper arm counts. Thri-Kreen’s four arms support a second weapon pair and additional arm-related equipment slots. Minotaurs gained Bull Charge and Bloodlust mechanics.

These choices have different alignment rules and unlock costs. Kobold and Kuo Toa sit in the normal tier; Thri-Kreen is an epic unlock. The roster is not a list of twelve free picks for every new account. race info, race feats, and accexp race provide the details.

The darker paths are still being prepared

Death Knight, Wight, Revenant, Shadow Beast, and Phantom are transformation-only forms. Their rules require an eligible level-30 character and a quest reward, with class restrictions and a permanent, one-way change. They cannot be bought or selected at creation.

No quest awards those five forms yet. The races and conversion rules are implemented, but their adventure hooks still need authoring. This roundup also does not confirm a live rollout of the new creation races.
