The Bone Conclave: Necromancers and the Reforging Flame

A necromancer before a bone-clad forge where a broken sword is being reforged in violet flame

At the end of 2023, the dead stopped being scenery.

The Necromancer class arrived with a cohort of its own and with the machinery needed to make that companion matter. Summoner and Necromancer levels could combine when determining the strength of Eidolon-related mechanics, while a Necromancer could call an undead cohort without first borrowing levels from another class. The bond systems built earlier in the year found a darker second life.

Places that refuse the map

Builders gained the NOMAP zone flag, allowing labyrinths, cursed ruins, and other deliberately disorienting places to block automap, map, and scan. Directional shorthand for looking and digging made ordinary exploration faster, while the track and staff goto commands received crash repairs.

Support for moving rooms entered the engine as well, opening the door to spaces that shift beneath the player rather than waiting at fixed coordinates.

Old steel, new purpose

The new reforge command gave equipment a route back into usefulness. It became the first step toward the deeper crafting, salvage, and item-progression work that would follow over the next two years.

Smaller changes thickened the world around these systems. Lore checks on creatures began revealing current and maximum health. Legacy fountains and drink containers could grant effects based on their liquid. Magic staves began behaving as intended. Summoned creatures at higher spell circles gained distinct power instead of sharing one flat profile, and spells that raise maximum health began raising current health by the same amount.

Call Eidolon gained a cooldown. Psionic forms correctly denied critical hits. Staff could clear room flags cleanly, room movement support grew, and another series of save, regeneration, charm, and paralysis bugs was closed.

The Bone Conclave was less a single chamber than a meeting of systems: persistent companions, hostile geography, repaired magic, and a forge waiting for what came next.
